Cumberland Woodwind Trio
Presents
“An Encyclopedia of Dance Music”
The Cumberland Woodwind Trio will present “An Encyclopedia
of Dance Music” at historic Peace Church on Sunday, June 8,
2008 at 3 p.m. The program will include the Waltz, Tango,
Ragtime Dance, Irish Jig, Minuet, Cake Walk, and others.
The Cumberland Woodwind Trio was formed in 1990. Craig
Jurgensen, oboist, plus other members of the Carlisle Town Band
formed an amateur woodwind trio to discover and present music
for a small wind ensemble. Over the past 18 years, the
trio has played for religious services (Christian and Jewish),
for weddings, Carlisle First Night celebration, Martin Luther
King remembrance, Peace Church summer concert series, the Amani
Festival, and various receptions. Their repertoire includes
ethnic music from a number of European and South American
countries, and operatic miniatures. A special African-American
concert was presented to feature the music of William Grant
Still. An encyclopedia of dance music will be presented in the
current season.
Members of the trio are:
Craig Jurgensen: Physician, has played oboe for 30 years. He
studied oboe with Anita Brandon, music faculty of Dickinson
College. He has played with West Shore Symphony and the
Carlisle Town Band. Cynthia Reinecker: Bassoonist, has played
with the Cumberland Woodwind Trio since its inception. She
currently performs with the Hershey Symphony Orchestra. Beth
Greenberg: clarinetist, has a degree in Music from the College
of St. Benedict. She works for the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania. Beth balances music activities with full time
professional work and full time “home work” as a mother of four
children. Located on the corner of St. John's Church and
Trindle Roads near Camp Hill, Peace Church is a 210 year old
limestone sanctuary. It was used as a church until 1865 and is
currently maintained as a museum by the Pennsylvania Historic
Museum commission. The church is open to the public on Sunday
afternoons from June through September for free tours and
cultural events. Parking is available in the office lot
directly across St. John's Church road. Handicap parking
